Wild Horses by Crystal Lakenature around death valley_27.jpg
On July 22, 2012, while heading home after shooting the Badwater Ultramarathon, I spent the day exploring Ash Valley Nature Preserve. I saw dragonflys on the lake, spooky faces in mountain rocks, and a herd of now wild horses - a growing trend as people who can no longer take care of their horses release them to the wild. .The horses made a circle around me at one point, and closed in. I wasn't afraid, because they were so sweet and beautiful. We played for a few minutes, then they went on their way. (Photo by Sally Rice ©2012)
